What will this engine be going in? a genuine 48 model?

I have a 1.6 motor (bottom end only) down the back shed somewhere.
Could someone explain, or post a picture of the 'side-plate' engine. I'll take a guess and say that there is a plate on the side.....
Mine came with another vehicle, the pistons have holes from pre-ignition but the block, crank & rods may be OK.

Hi Tom,
How's things going?
Yes, engine 860159 is from R860137 (first Land Rover actually "sold" in NSW to a buyer on 31 December 1948). Unfortunately I think I only have the front differential casing (no 2), a replacement long-nosed differential, wheels, and some other components from that vehicle - the rest appears to have been lost.
Until I have the time next year all the 1948 parts I have will, for the moment, be put into a very interesting early 1949 chassis R8664773 (build no 4785) just to get all my 1948 bits together as a display. This chassis is in absolutely amazing condition and is on the chassis colour changeover - it is silver overpainted light green. In the meantime other pre-1500 1948 chassis components I have acquired will be used in the build-up of a pre-1500 chassis for the eventual rebuild.
Have a very damaged firewall from a pre-1000 vehicle that will be repaired, the pre-750 windscreen frame rebuild is coming along slowly, have the replica seat box that GD brought from Perth to Cooma 2008 for me weathering so the rebuild is still moving V E R Y S L O W L Y.
Have not been able to do much over the past 18 months with the Series Ones.
Good to see you are still looking in here.

Hi colin
Its all in the core plugs. The later engines had round cup shaped core plugs, the side plate engine had rectangular plates which bolted on. (shown in black in the top image below)

Addit: Note the shape of the sump is wrong for a side plate engine! :)
Thanks Diana,
I'll dig out the motor I have and see whether it's a side plate or not.
