Had a good look at her today.....found more mods

Steering relay non rover, as is the bell housing (Vanguard?).
Big crease in the chassis rail. Drivers side engine mount replaced.
    Back to square 1!
I hope I can get the shell and chassis that I found out east. If I can, all will be good!

    Yeah, Got some good bits.
The bonnet in the back is from a 48/9 vehicle.
    They must have wrecked one

that is one of the problems with the series vehicles , is that you never know who had it or what its life was like and the older they get the harder it is.

Vanguard engine was a good choice for an engine swap, I know of 3 Series 1's. that we're around here in Cessnock back in the late 60's that were fitted with them, they went very well BTW, cheers Dennis

Yeah, I agree Dennis, looks to be a perfect substitute esp. when Vanguards were common.
So I got up early as the guy who had the body/chassis 55' gave it to me and I had the trailer till 9am (did I not say both he and his wife are great people!).
Dropped it on with a front end loader and I got it off with my trolley and Kanga jack.
Appart from the 2 central x-members (surprise surprise) the chassis is great and most if not all of the body panels are repairable. As this came from Station country, the bulkhead has NO holes and appart from a little surface rust is schweet!
I will easily be able to get one pretty good bus out of the 2.
I'll build it up on the 55' chassis.

*Got a wave from a 130 driver on the way back too ;o)
