    1948 - R860585

I have been tracing the history of the first 1948 vehicles to Western Australia as I am currently recommissioning R860583. I have come accross these photos of the sister vehicle to my 48, R860585.

This vehicle has dissappeared into WA's outback. It may have been scrapped, sent to another state or still out there somewhere. Anyway here are some nice early pics of an original 48 hard at work.

    Cheers,
    Andy.

    P2?

Thanks for those photo's, I am wondering about the Rover car is that a P2?
The Rover's design looks very dated compared to both the Land Rover and the Holden.

I hope you can trace down R860585, here's hoping.

I think it is a P3 being post war although there is little visual difference between them,

    Cheers Charlie

Fabulous photos! I used to go to school in Perth before we moved to Kalgoorlie! A life time ago now...

Looks like a young, nude Darth Vader in that first photo. His early association with Land Rovers could explain his bad temper :-)

Not sure how these ended up in your hands, but these photos were sent to me from a guy currently renting a cabin on my property. He is the young boy in the photo and his name is Peter Whittle. His dad was a dairy farmer in Margaret river WA and was also the local Land Rover agent. He is still alive and I may be able to get some contact details for him if you want to try to contact him.
