After the Webb's had to give up Borumbah ( yes thats how they spelt it) another family took over for a while until the Govt bought it back. That was Andy Sullivan the Grandad of The Current Sullivans the stock and real estate agents in Gympie. Fabian Webb seems to think that Andy Sullivan may have owned the 109 and he had to drive it quite a distance through the logging tracks to get to Borumbah after the dam cut off the access. I will email the Sullivans and see if they know anything. Any way I will still make up a CD of the Webb boys to play while we are out on the Canning Stock route LOL.

Took it in to get the mail today, its running really well but remember what I said on the phone, the engine and transmission are untouched as I figured if it aint broke dont fix it. However before doing a big trip like the CSR I would go over the gearbox anyway.

Thanks guys, Now Ive got ya, yes do know of it and looks like good 80'' country (u tube thanks). Dont know if I could stand the 80kph @4000rpm much past Mount barker though.

There will be a convoy all the same with regular breaks. Wear ear plugs or turn up the stereo headphones LOL

Borumbah being 58 has those rare fully floating axles. If you are going to work it hard it may pay to install series 2 full floaters with the spacer as per pic of Jumbuck.
Leave the originals for show because if you break one they will be hard to replace. Especially out in the middle of Woop Woop.

I do have a pair of series one axles in 88" 'Monty', I am thinking of changing to series two backend and maybe a Salisbury at that! :o

Both 'Monty' and the 80" ( yet unnamed but could be called 'Les' in memory of a deceased friend ), have had the injustice of being hacked to install Holden engines and especially the 1952 80", could do with a period 2 litre Land Rover back in it, but I do have a Series 3 2.25 Diesel that would make the 80" a great little bush machine.
Then the hacked radiator support and chassis could stay the same, as they are already modified to move the radiator forward for the previous engine.

Oh! I digress.
I can check to see that they are the correct length and the splines aren't starting to twist, then will AlexH get them for his 1957 109" ? :D:D

I just got back from a trip to Exmouth in the Defer. Yes it has full floating axels apparently. I will ask around over here if anyone has a spare set of series 2 axels to use. I did see some on a station up north a few months back. There were several series 2 's laying around with many parts still available. Must unpack and get all the fish in the freezer.

Ticket booked and paid $100 plus points airfare to Brisvegas from Perth. heading up to Gympie on the Tilt train ( I think) next Monday which I just found out is a public holiday. Depending on upcoming work commitments I can either take my time and drive the 109 back to Perth take a week at 60 kph. Or if things get busy put it on a car carrier. Would be quite fun to drive back so that's the preferred option. I was thinking of putting a 200 litre drum in the back for long range tank I have a jiggle syphon . Spares required plugs ,points , condenser, radiator hoses, oil filter ,engine oil , gearbox diff oil. The usual route I take is the most direct cut off Dubbo and follow the Darling river through Bourke ,Tilpa and on to Broken Hill the Port Augusta and over the Nullarbor. Any tips on possible problems to look for or where to get assistance if necessary along the route appreciated.

Driving Borumbah into Gympie for the roadworthy in the morning.

I better mention its got these period freewheel hubs by MAP. Mayflower Automotive Products. I dont know how good they are but if I was going into the unknown I would be swapping them out for flanges.
Its got a screw jack with handle, crankhandle and a wheel spanner.
All other tools you will need to bring too.

I have done a bit of research on the hubs do they have MAP written on them anywhere. See the link below they look more like Thor automatic hubs very rare.
