I fitted a set of rear seats to the Series 1 last Friday, I had good intentions of taking a few images but a sudden Vertigo attack left me helpless for 48 hours, no wonder I won't go on any boat trips LOL, anyway next time it's out I will snap a couple, no big deal fitting seats anyway, just mark out equally and drill the four holes job done, well I did have to repaint them in DBG, cheers Dennis:)

Hi Dennis , Do you have any use for one of these . I think it is some sort of black out light & it seams to have 2 LED bulbes in it . Somebody said it may fit under the back iof a L/R & shine forward onto the diff center. Any way if you want it I will send it to you. It has the number 4247 on a sticker

I just had a look at The Registry of Ex Military Land Rovers & they appear to be Blackout Marker Lights NSS 6220 66 128 4247 p/n AYG 9726 , to suit a Parentie. According to the site they dont think anybody would have any but I have this new one. It is Lego brick size with 2x yellow LED lights & 2 x securoing screws on the back & lead c/ w plug. If you dont need it & know somebody who doese they would be welcome to it .

I see on the SBS National News tonight that there are fires close to the township up your way Dennis. I hope they are not causing you any threats and your family and fleet are safe!
It doesn't seem that long back and the issue up there was flooding.

All OK here mate, I was driving my 110 home from work on Monday @ approx 1410hrs in that location, I saw some light coloured smoke as I was approaching Heddon Greta (nr the Hunter Expressway), by the time I had traveled approx 2k's the smoke was black and rising fast in the high wind that was prevailing at the time, from my location on the main road the fire appeared to be off Mitchell ave Kurri, and I passed within 300 yards of the spot, passed quite a few appliances heading to the location, either somebody lit 2 fires or embers spread quickly as another fire started back down alongside the freeway, where there was no fire as I crossed it, it was just good luck that no lives or property were destroyed, I would imagine that quite a bit of wildlife might have perished though, cheers Dennis

This morning early I woke my Series 1 from a long sleep, a quick wash, clean the windscreen add some fuel and off into the hills of the Pokolbin State Forest

Well, sometimes the well made plans of men n mice go astray, it seems the RHS rear axle oil seal is faulty. It had been replaced by the former owner along with the collar that fits on the axle, I have never had the pleasure (or rather the experience) of replacing one of these gems, the Series 1 that I had back in the early 70's had fully floating rear end, very familiar with that setup, my biggest problem here is lack of space, to disable a vehicle on the driveway means I can't move anything in or out if the need arises, ? has anyone here had any recent experience in replacing the oil seal what time frame are we looking at, any help pointers greatly appreciated cheers Dennis[bigwhistle]

I think I found the oil leak/weep the bolts that hold the axle to the banjo housing were not tight enough in my opinion, I nipped them all up, degreased the lower 2 bolts and back plate assembly. The drum was dry when removed I expected it to be dripping in oil, where the vehicle is parked up the ground has a slight lean to the right, this would allow oil to pool there and with the bolts not being tight enough it's allowed a weep past the gasket, well that's what I'm hoping LOL cheers Dennis[bigwhistle]
