Thanks Jim, I don't have it in my hands yet, my son will pick it up when he has finished scrapping all the other cars there, it won't be till next week before I can get a look.
I'm contemplating just cleaning it up, remove the hand made roof and wood tray, refit the rear alloy tub, get it driving. The brake pedal is hard as a rock, so it will at least need a master cylinder, clutch works, motor turns, probably need the radiator rodded (at least) a set of tyres and put it on the market for a restorer, that is if I don't fall in love with it.
At least when I sell it it will be a runner and ready for rego, least likely that way it will stay away from the scrap yard, will post more pics when I get it here, Regards Frank.

Hi Keith

The vehicle looks to be from a private owner rather than something like the SMHEA, and yes it is an 86 as mentioned above. The firewall alone would be worth more than $150 if you parted it out. Many of these are rusted beyond repair.

While lots of people are interested in the 80" because they are the original models, I find the 86 and 88 models more usable for weekends out etc.

My son seems to think the firewall is aluminium, could this be right, also was wondering why the owner would put the Tare weight on the guard, was it the law back then, I will be leaving the "signwriting" intact.

No, its a steel firewall. Nice early wiper motor thats hard to find and the bakelite steering wheel centre and horn push thats repairable. Front guards look good. I would keep it if I were you:D

I'm thinking along those lines, seems I have an alloy roof with side windows and back door sitting in the yard, same as the ones I've seen on this forum, so I might have a wagon I can build up.
Any clues where I might be able to download a factory workshop manual, even if it's only for the engine and drivetrain, Regards Frank.

Tare weight and owner's name were required to be shown on goods vehicles in NSW up until some time in the sixties.

Picking it up tomorrow, ex owner put in a battery, poured some fuel down the carb and it started up and ran, taking a couple of rims/tyres down to get it on the trailer, looks like I might be able to drive it on, hope everything else (drivetrain) works also, will post up some numbers as soon as I can get at them, Regards Frank.
