Rare Land Rover for sale.....

Allan, a mate in Canberra and owner of a post 1500 '48 drove 300km to buy "one of those really old light green" Landies, only to find it was an SIII 88" in NP&WS green. :BigCry:

Just sent the email below to the seller.


"I was looking at the Land Rover you have advertised and a few things are confusing me.
The grille & seatbacks date it to around 1951.
I notice an extra gearstick has been added, could you tell me what the function of the extra gearlever is.
The speedo looks the same as all the 80" wheel base Land Rovers so could you explain your comment about being 'handmade because of the speedo size'.
I'm very interested in this vehicle but need the chassis & engine number so I can research the manufacture date more thoroughly.

I sent a similar one yesterday and as of yet no reply. I just rang the number and his wife says Hubby is not home till late ?

Just spoke to the owner and he is going to give me chassis/engine numbers tomorrow evening.

Well he is correct in his statment that it was hand built , :o they were all hand built back then:cool:

I think its worth that and more, and they are incredibly rare,
I know as I also have one... actually mine are a common 1950 and a common 52...

I think the value is right....so who wants to make first bid on mine??

Lucky I have the other 11 that came to Australia, will sell off as a job lot for the same amount. First to deposit the cash gets them.

Just waiting for the cash to roll in.

All those special 48 features, like the wrong lights, wrong tilt tie down points etc. But you can see the A frame attachments where the "retired colonel" towed it behind his tank.

Im wondering about the small oblong one horizontal and to left of guages..
(and too lazy to go outside to shed...but dont recall something there

The one thing I have noticed it does have a 48 steering wheel .
