Very nice. Some good photos to help me get Wombat back towards original (I've got a few things missing).
Those seat backs. Wombat (1956) only came with one seat bottom, which is the same brown vinyl that yours are. Was it normal to have the textured vinyl on the back?
My aim, get the car drivable and in reasonable mechanical condition. Look after it and use as a farm hack.
I am working my way through things to get the old girl working. Replaced the exhaust manifold, but must order some new gaskets. I have ordered a spare parts book from the Book Depository, so when this arrives I will be able to compare part numbers and order some bits. My current parts book is for the 80 inch only.
Replaced the engine oil and cleaned the filter as I had no spare. Must get another filter when I order some bits. I plan to drop the oil again after running the car for 20 minutes or so.
The points replaced, cleaned the connector in the top of the dizzy cap, plugs replaced, serviced the caps on the plug ends, installed temporarily a new coil (just used a Bosch non resistive coil fot the time being.) I cant remove the old coil at this stage as the both captive nuts in the firewall are spinning. Now I have a reasonable spark, but will replace the plug leads sooner than later.
I was able to run the engine briefly by dropping fuel into the top of the carby - sounds good. The fuel pump didn't work, and I tried to clean the points on the fuel pump and am getting a spark but the no movement, so I replaced this with a spare I had.
Next fuel at last, alas, leaking out of the braided line to the carby. As a temporary measure, I had a new line made up using some semi flexible hydraulic hose - Land Rover used BSP fittings each end, my nephews have hose crimper and the fittings are only a few dollars each.
Fuel to the carby, still no joy, so next I will overhaul the carby. New gasket kit required most likely.
