    A gold mine

Someone found this Series one firetruck at a closing down gold mine in Qld.
Sent it to the UK only done 2000 miles.
    Try that link.

    A little guilty

I somewhat nervously write on the forum from the UK. Tis me who purchased this Landie and exported back to the UK, where we are giving it some TLC to get it back on the road and in use. Would like to restore it in keeping with its history as an Aussie Fire Tender.
Does anyone know if I can get hold of an old Queensland Fire Service decal to put back on the doors once we have had it resprayed? Also is there any other badge/memorabilia that would be fitting for such a vehicle that I might add back? As I have mentioned in the UK site, she spent almost all of her life in the mine, only being bought 30 years ago by a private guy who kept her locked away in shed unused.
It was never registered no the public road.
Finally is there an archive from Annand & Thompson in Brisbane that still exists and is accessible? The car was shipped to A&T from Solihull in April 1957. They then sold it to the mine.

    Welcome to the forum.

That is a very nice find you have there. As for it being shipped back to the UK, I can't complain - I've got a 101 that was bought over here from there - one of the 3 war surplus units that had next no KM on it when it went to auction (I'm the third Civi owner), so we're even as far as I can see.

Hope you stick around and share you journey with it.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

I seem to remember that Annand and Thompson's archives were lost in a flood in January 1974. (Annand and Thompson were on the bank of Breakfast Creek in Brisbane, no more than a few feet above the normal level of the Brisbane River - the flood level in the city was 22ft.)

So if my memory is correct, these records do not exist.

We will forgive you as long as you keep us posted on whats happening
There is another member on here in South Australia who collects Land Rover fire trucks, he would be keen to see the photos and may be of help in advice in equipment etc.
Start a new thread on it and post up the photos.
