Tracking Series 1 Gearbox Serial Number

Firstly, I apologise if this question has been asked numerous times (which I suspect it has).

I have recently picked up a Series 1 gearbox with the serial number 111709333. How do I go about finding out which year this would have been installed at Solihull and would it even be possible to find out which vehicle it went into?

My intention is to rebuild the gearbox for an impending project which I have yet to source. Any advice on this would be appreciated as well.

    Cheers everyone,

    Rohan.

Thanks Jim. Would it not be a larger number with a prefix or sufix in 1957?

It appears that the prefixes don't have a lot of logic between the years.

as far as gearbox numbers go:

    1118: 1958

    1117: 1957

    1706: 1956

    5710: 1955

    4710: 1954

Ok, thanks Ben and Jim also. I'll run with 1957.

    Series 1 chassis number identification

I just cleared out a shed before demolishing it. As well as two S1 (1958) motors in poor condition that I knew about there is a gearbox that I had forgotten about. The SN is 16105515. During researching the SN today, as well as discovering its a Basic Home 1951, I found this useful Chassis ID resource. Mostly the Engine gearbox and axles follow the same SN
