    Glass

Another question on doors (and windscreens) - from what I can find it looks like by Sep 57 my Series 1 should have two glass panels (i.e. no perspex) on the doors - question is what sort of glass is required (laminated?, toughened?etc) and where can I source it? Would this be the same for a replacement windscreen?

    Thanks!

You legally need laminated for the windscreen when replacing it with new, but most places will cut this to size for you leaving the standards stamp in it.

Having said that if you find a roadworthy panel of toughened windscreen panel they are still legal.

Side glass can be toughened and this too can be ordered from a glazing company and they can have it made to size. Veridian do custom stuff in about a week from order but don't sell to the public so you'll need to order this from a window manufacturer or glazing company - it won't be cheap either but new glass makes a huge difference to the looks of a vehicle.

Windscreen panels can be bought new I believe but not sure about the side glass - I'm sure someone will chime in and let you know.

I've had DMT legal glass made for me by G.James Glass and Aluminium, here in Queensland, if you have them in WA would be worth a call. All they need is accurate templates of what you need. Turn around time was very quick. If you show them where you want the ID stamps they will put them in place for you as well.

Just checked and they are here,
