The countryside is a bit picturesque to be driving around in there. I'm guessing very different to the beach property in England where they did the original testing.
The original centre steer was a lash up to experiment with the concept. I suspect it was seen by those involved as no more than an exercise to convince the board that the Land Rover was something worth trying. There was certainly no concept of its being something historic. Even the actual prototypes and pre-production vehicles were, I think, rebuilt to more or less production standard and sold to the public. Remember, Britain (and the rest of the world) was still in post-war austerity.

Interesting that the replica has used a Ford jeep chassis with a Willy’s jeep front cross member added.
Does anyone know if the original prototype used a Ford or Willy’s chassis?
