For where you are, the first place I would try is Land Vehicle Spares in Silverdale, I expect they have them. Also All four x 4 in Kotara.

Note - if the Series 1 you have is a five door station wagon, they do not have the same rear crossmember, and I don't think these are available in Australia or anywhere else.

The Series 1 rear crossmember (except station wagon) is not exactly the same as the Series 2/3 one, but is interchangeable. If you want an exact replacement, I suspect it will be more difficult (and expensive).

Available in the UK but you'll have to ring around to see if anyone in Australia has them

PSK 3639 - Rear Crossmember with 10" extensions and spring hangers, 1954 to 1958

Land Rover series 1 Rear Cross member for Series 1954 - 58 JC7039 | eBay

Maybe you can get a secondhand one from a damaged chassis, a few years ago I struggled to give away a Series I chassis that had a few outriggers bent but was rust free. Try a wanted advert in Markets (on this forum).

If you know a good metal worker you could get one fabricated, unless at 'mates rates' this could be expensive.

If you can't buy a S1 rear X member just buy a S2 one , you can easy modify it to look like a S1 with out too much effort ,if you want it to look correct . That's what I did on my 80".

As Jim says, S1 LWB chassis side rails are made up of three sections, welded together with plates on the inside. One joint which is clearly visible is above the front spring hanger of the rear spring. I know of one accident caused by a rusted joint on the inside of the chassis. Periodical checking of a S1 LWB chassis is a must..W.
