1-5 all capping work done, freshly painted now was time to rivet them on, just one last bit of trim needed cleaning and prepping before paint for the upper side of the rear tub, painted for now, just needs to dry before fitting. Coming along nicely but a tonne of work to go.
1-4 as per pics,
first is the side upper capping fitted then the rear tailgate sanded back and painted one side only
Well i have just purchased another LR this time a Def 90 and so understandably the weekend was taken up with the new acquisition, no work has been done on the old girl which is kinda sad :( torn between the two beasts and my time to devote to which vehicle. sorry for lack of progress and pics for now. I wasn't even looking to buy another LR but these things pop up from time to time and we tragics cant help ourselves but to indulge in another LR beast.
1 the distraction, a Td5 Defender 90 unreg. sitting in the drive until i figure out why it wont start, just bought a brand new battery but having ignition problems
2 back to the series one, the striker plate fitted to the p/side door now closes properly
3 couldn't wait anymore so fitted the floor, just need more bolts to secure all the way round
4 my new acquisition (90) came with a new front bumper which i fitted to the series one and bolted up, i did have an older bumper but was twisted so decided to fit this one instead, looks pretty good (me thinks)
Quite possibly I think you'll find the newer bumper is actually wider than the original, by a couple of inches, this allows for the flares which of course the Series don't have.
Yes. Not actually the flares, but the widened body below the waist from Series 2 on. Also, later bars are larger vertically, so look less than sympatheitic.
I know this is a series thread but don't have time to do another thread on the Def 90 but ...
1 couldn't start the new acquisition and after having to purchase a new battery which was missing, i finally realised the rear of the ignition was faulty, literally falling apart, so butchered to get it out and new one is on order so hopefully will be able to start the new old girl for the first time soon
2 while the weather is crap thought to paint the other side of the rear tailgate, allowing to dry before fitting the cappings then fit onto the S1
also realised my foam for the S1 is way too tall at 15cm high, think it needs to be around 13cm or smaller as it sits way to high for the seating position
1 had one rear capping to cleanup and paint, done
2 said capping fitted so all cappings are done, hooray for that
3 assortment of gal pieces needed cleaning and painting for the rear tailgate for assembly
all this while i wait for parts for the Def 90 to arrive
Sydney has had a lot of rain so not much achieved but ...
1 did manage to fit (rivet) a top gal capping on tailgate and fit temp to vehicle, just makes her look more and more like a Landy
2 Something completely non LR related but will share, went to a worksite and came across this silly (weird) sign post, make what you will with it!
