    Bloody, oops! Bleeding 80" Brakes - More!

    Been away for a while, ruptured an achilles tendon, crutches, moon boot, just strapping now at week 11 month 3. Cooma at Easter went down the drain :0(

    Once able to move reasonably lot of SLOW catching up. Finally back to the ol'fella to where I left off. Wanting to fit firewall but needed to get him off the dolly first. Mmmmm Wheels, ummm brakes, better fill and bleed - Nup. that was all before 8 February. My refurbed Master Cylinder wouldn't charge, wouldn't suck down from reservoir. stripped and rebuilt , yep all correct. Then "ankle"

    So sometime in there took the master cyl to a "proper" brake place, "cyl and piston need to be be sleeved". Didn't really think so, but then it didn't work for my refurb did it. So a few hundred later I have "new" master cyl. Finally get to the point where I can actually reinstall and get the brakes back on track.

    Didn't happen did it! Overhauled master cyl and done dosh; didn't work! same as before with just the refurb. Will not charge from the reservoir.

    As before, place thumb over discharge on the return stroke and sucks and then pumps but only if there is vacuum on the discharge side. Will not suck with air in the lines!

    Next move is to attempt to fill all of the lines to each wheel and wheel cyl and see how it goes. After that it will be pressurise the reservoir.

    Any other suggestions?????

    Have looked at all the other bleets on 80" bleeding. Is too common, brought to us by the same people who invented the "Liquid Spring" landing gear strut.

    Er use one of these pressure bleeders , they work on tire pressure to push the fluid through the M/cylinder & lines. Can usually bleed the brakes on an 80" in less than 1 hr. Before buying this would take hours , days , weeks. Depending which brand you buy you may need to find a cap to use to fit your reservoir . I tried a vacuum bleeder but found it took a long time to suck the fluid through & you can't have any leaks were the hose fits on the nipples . I have also done away with the ball bearings under the bleed nipples & have fitted tapered nipples.

    We also use this bleeder ion my brothers Mk7 Jaguar he used to race in historic racing that also uses the same brake system. We were changing the fluid after a couple of race meetings saved us a lot of time trying to get a brake peddle.

    Have you got some freeplay so the piston can go right back. If the brake pedal rod is holding the piston in even a touch the cylinder cannot fill.

    Try filling it in situ straight into the master cylinder port and see if it works. I coble up some clear tube and clean plastic bottle
