G'day All,
Does anyone know of anywhere in Australia that re-chromes swivel balls?
I recall a post a few years ago mentioning a place in Newcastle that did them on an exchange basis, but cant seem to find it. Maybe not searching properly.
Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Probably easier to buy new Britpart from the UK now. I just bought a pair from Paddocks. No one seems to do anything in OZ anymore.
Went to get a set of front brake shoes for S3 6 cyl relined. My brake guy said they dont do it anymore. Just buy new from china. $60.00 for a front set of four shoes. Not worth the effort they said. I guess swivels are the same.
Your brake guy is having a lend of you.
I can walk into a brake supplier locally and get shoes, you do need the old shoes as they can't justify getting shoes made so they get them relined.
Last set cost about $30 for LWB Series III Fronts (but to be fair, I am getting them at 'trade' price).
At Cooma someone was selling new swivels at $150 each.
They were imported, de-chromed then re-chromed because the Indian chroming was suspect. He had some for sale for about $30 each but they had inclusions in the chrome so you either took a chance sanding down the lumps or getting it rechromed.
If the swivel is pitted de-chroming then re-chroming isn't enough as the pits need to be filled in. Four Wheel Drives in Melbourne used to get it done but in the 'old days' they were getting 10 sets at a time done, now there is little demand.

Just chiming in... there are a few online forums that have talked about the 'aftermarket' swivels and the failures on them, they essentially fail and break away at the neck. Google it and see... scared the crap out of me so I will be re-chroming any day before buying chinese crap. Just my 2c

Interesting but the comment below was from the person with the snapped swivels.
But to reiterate, you are only likely to have problems if you give them a hard time, ie, off road with gusto.
I've managed to use original swivels on all of mine with a little epoxy metal filling. I even have a couple of spares.
Best of luck getting yours re-chromed.
