What is special about this 88

As the owner of 2 series 1s I very much appreciate the appreciating values of series 1s in particular the 80s and the "special" vehicles.

This 88 series 1 is on ebay for $10,000 LANDROVER SERIES 1 1957 88 SHORT WHEEL BASE | eBay

Now it is consistent with the condition of my own 88 and in fact my vehicle was on the PMC assembly line with this one (2 cars apart). I accept that having a PTO is attractive but really is this worth $10,000? I appreciate the 88s are probably at the bottom of the Series 1 value and collectability index.

I am certainly happy for you all to say yes as I recently knocked back $2500 for mine but I was in two minds on whether to take the offer.

    So what is the opinion?

    Thanks

It’s worth what somebody is willing to pay.....ya never know somebody with coin might come along and snap it up.

I assume he would be getting offers on it.....again somebody might tease him down.

Either way he sees value in it at this stage....hopefully he finds a buyer

Years ago when I got mine it was suggested a complete working governor was worth $1K, a complete working rear PTO unit and belt drive pulley is worth maybe $2K ?
If the engine runs and the vehicle drives then that adds up but it's still falling short of the asking price.....

But the vehicle is here not in the UK so why the reference to UK prices ? Different market unless you’re trying to sell in Australia at UK price ?!
Engine condition is unknown, working but unknown not rebuilt so the $8K rebuild might be what you have to spend once you’ve purchased it !

Mine must be worth a kings ransom ‘in the UK’.
