Series 1 Parts, Project or Painful

    Hey All,
So I just picked up a s1 LWB chassis and parts from gumtree, it was given to me by a very generous man Gus who turned out to be a fellow AULRO member. He has taken all the parts he needs and let the rest go for free.
My original thoughts was to take a few parts for my s3, the s1 is fitted with a PTO. All the other parts I was going to salvage for a future project. But the more I looked at it the more I thought why not keep it.
It's got the usual dumb iron and rear crossmember rust but without looking too hard it dosnt seem too rusted out elsewhere. It was a truck cab originally and looks like it was used for farm work. It has a PTO shaft straight off the engine and the rear mounted gearbox PTO. All the drivetrain is there but it has a holden 6 in it. Has a fuel tank in good condition and a few other bits. Someone has fabbed up the front wings out of steel which I think are really cool.
I only just got it and am really excited to get a good look at it tommorow, hopfully overall the chassis is in decent condition.
If so it's time to start collecting s1 parts!
If It becomes a project I shall name him Gus Series 1 Parts, Project or Painful
    Cheers Jim

Here he is! Thank you very much again Gus, sorry I was a bit all over the place yesterday. Had a big day at work and driving from richmond it's exhausting. Hopfully next time I see you im a bit fresher and not winding up that goddamn trailer winch.
I really hope I can get him on the road, it's probably gonna be a long term project I'd rather fix it than use it for parts. I desperately need to get the s3 out of the shed and on the road I need to pull my finger out. But keeping the disco on the road is priority right now and the up keep never ends.
Need to start collecting some parts now, if you are selling or getting rid of any of the projects original parts let me know if be interested. I really love the homemade steel fenders their so rustic I'll keep them for sure.
Was the chassis number on the bulkhead? If so do you plan on using it or keeping your original one? The number would have been on the dumb irons but they have been replaced.
I hope you get that 2a on the road after your s1 it's an awsome truck, just leave it as is moss and all!
Glad you found me hope to see you again.
    Cheers Jim

No worries Jim. I am really happy someone is going to get it back on the road. Would loved to keep it but need to bring S3 home.

Only the body works required for S3. So looking for panel beater or spray painter that can do it for me. Atm waiting reply from vicroads if I can get UVP to do few trips to the panel beater/painter.

S2a is or was originally for donor but I might keep it as is and get it on the road. Haven’t told my boss yet maybe wait until I get S3 registered. She might like an old series ride Series 1 Parts, Project or Painful and propose to get S2a on the road too. Interested on EV conversion but will see.

Good to know you too Jim. Keep in touch and may be visit you one day and see your project gojng. Feel free to contact me if I can help you in any way.

    Cheers
    Gus

Thought I'd get out and wire the fenders up to get a look see haha. Few more photos hopfully better quality.
The wife's pretty impressed which is a good sign she's always on board, crazy woman. But I think I'm gonna get rid of a few parts cars, paddock bombs and the rally car to keep in her good books. I don't race anymore it's too expensive of a hobby and the place is looking like a scrapyard. Hopfully fund the land rovers a little bit.
Anyway unless I'm after some info on the s1 or actually start working on it I probably won't be updating this thread. I probably will start one on my s3 to keep me moving on it and help me remember where I'm at.
    Until then "Gus"
    Cheers Jim

Nothing too flash just a little ED civic hatch, i was only rally crossing and done Winton a few times. It's too expensive with all the other hobbys, my mate egged me for years. I love it but can't afford to keep hiring trailers, cams fees, entry fees and club fees. It all adds up so fast!
