We were down at Shannons (melb) today & noticed a S1 Station Wagon up for auction.
I don't know enough about them to make an educated comment, just wondering if anyone else has seen it?

Apart from the weird looking rear roof (which I don’t think is original but I could be wrong) - not a bad looking rig.. Price seems reasonable IF it’s a numbers matching unit...
54 Series 1 86
61 Series 2 109 - Club Rego
76 2 Door Range Rover
78 101 Forward Control - Club Rego
88 Perentie FFR - Club Rego
90 4 Door Range Rover - Club Rego
93 Discovery 1 200 Tdi - Club Rego
98 Freelander 1 - Full Rego
22 Defedner 90 - Full rego
The seating arrangement in the back looks like it belongs in a 107/109. The front pair won't fold down with the spare in it's pozzy.
Don.
I think the weird looking rear roof is an artifact of having the roof and the tropical roof different colours - my memory says they would normally both be the same colour, usually white or off-white, regardless of body colour.

Well I enquired on this vehicle and asked for some providence to show it was actually a Station Wagon - nothing was forthcoming.
There is virtually nothing in the interior that indicates it is a SW (likewise there is nothing to indicate it is not a SW). I asked on the Series 1 Club and the "experts" indicated that it seemed to be a replica based on interior fittings but again it is hard to confirm.
While the colour (Bronze Green) is an original colour for the year and model - this is a very very early 86 and may even predate the SWs but there is no evidence one way or the other. Most SWB SWs were grey or "RAF" Blue certainly in Aust.
This car was listed in an Aussie advertising mag in January (last month) for $27,500 and did not sell - the ad indicated the engine needed rings so maybe a rebuild was needed. I asked Shannons about this and they sent me the inspection report which indicated no major issues - when quizzed about the rings they were silent.
Anyway the car sold for $38,000. I hope it is a genuine SW and the new owner will be happy with it - even at $38K this car will require a lot of work to bring it back to original. Unlike basic models that wear patina with pride, the really rare models (there will be fewer SWB SWs in country than LWB SWs) really do need to be taken back to original.
