    new member restoring series 1 1955 86"

Hi, Im a new member so gday to everyone reading this post. Ive started restoring a 1955 series one landy. Ive had the chassis and fire wall sandblasted and have just finished etch priming it all. Ive been trying to find a set of leaf springs for it as the ones I have are no good. so would appreciate if anyone has any info on where I might get a set. I try to work out how to post some pics of the restoration. cheers phil

If you dont get any closer suggestions I have a set of perfectly good 7 leaf front springs from my '73 Lightweight (Military) I'd be willing to part with, they will be exactly what you need & identical to Front 86 & 88" . Ive switched to Parabolics (the blue ones) & altered my shock mounts so wont be putting the Leafers back .

These are very supple for leaf springs & only need the bushes replaced.,

just what Im looking for but Im in qld brisbane area

thanks for your offer . sounds like what Im looking for but unfortunately Im near brisbane and I think the freight would be very expensive. I will keep you in mind in case I cant find something. If I decided to freight them could you rap them up for freighting for me? can you tell me what springs of other landrovers fit the 86". thanks again. cheers phil

Phil - google “e-go”, they are an Australian courier company. Very good rates. From memory I once used them for a set of springs from Brisbane to Melbourne and their rates were good.

Alternatively, if your not doing a rivet count restoration do what I did and buy a set of new parabolics from GB Springs UK, bloody fabulous and worth every cent, Full set of 4 springs with bushes & U-bolts delivered to the door for just under AU$1000 , no GST.

thanks for the info. I didnt know about the parabolic springs. I was hoping to keep the landy original but I also have to be practical as well so I'll make some inquiries into the gb springs. looks like they will give a better ride as well. at least it gives me an alternative . thanks for helping. I cant work out how to up load pics of the restoration but when I do I will post some pics. cheers

You will only be able to up load photo's from your desk top as far as I know phones & tablets won't work. Some one correct me if I am wrong but that is the only way I have been able to do it.

I think Series 1 is worth keeping original, although springs are easy to swap back to original (if you can find them!).
