    1950 Series 1

I have just bought a 1950 series one 80 inch. I only glanced at it before agreeing to buy it.
It has been sitting in the old garage since the late 80s. The house next to it has not been lived in for a long time and only had a wood oven and a chimney that was fully overgrown.
The previous owners both live locally and I teach the grandson of one of the original owners.
They believe it was used on the snowy mountain scheme. I am hoping to catch up with the grandfather soon with some more information.
It does not have any marking relating to the scheme but it could have been used by a contractor.
It is mostly complete. I just need an ammeter and seats for it to be complete(ish) as well as some rear D-lamps. It has an electric fuel pump.
I have hooked up a battery- firewall lights work, headlights work and the starter motor spins but doesn't turn the motor. it sounds like it is not engaged so I say I will be pulling it out soon. Unfortunately the crank handle was not with it and I do not have one with me at the moment.
It has all rims that match(5/50) and the radiator that is 8/49.
It also has the original manual which was sitting in the seat box under the passenger side. It is a winder it wasn't eaten completely by rats.

It was really tight in the old garage and on a hill so I decided to hand winch it out using the Perentie to winch from.
It has 3 tyres that hold air but the other 2 don't. I only had a 7.50 so it went on the front which makes it look a bit weird.
I have given it a pressure clean today but it was getting late so I did not finish.
I will do another clean in a few days when I have more light.

I thought I would have a go at doing a YouTube video on it. I felt like an idiot doing it but thought someone might get something out of it.

Looks like a very good find. If you xan talk to the grandfather, maybe you might find out why it was taken out of service?

I had a bit more of a poke around today.
The headlights work. The parking lights work and the instrument panel lights work.
Te starter motor isn't engaging properly. I was going to take it off today but have decided to wait and see if it will run from crank handle next week.
I have found rust in the gearbox and clutch cross-members. I will most likely replace both cross-members.
There is also rust in the front dumb irons.
I Will take the body off to work with this.
however unlike my '53 I will not being touching the body besides the chassis and firewall.
I think I will treat both of these and paint to be sure.

    Engine number: 36105452
Which is not the original engine. All I know is that it had the original engine in 1970. Hopefully when I meet the previous owner I can find out what happened to the original.
