Wipers and Ignition+Key

    Hello all,

I have a Series 1 1957 coming, and I need a full wiper motor, blade and connections, plus a new ignition and key. Alternatively could someone point me in the direction of having a key cut for the existing ignition.
Many thanks for you help in advance.

    Cheers

    Reg

If you just take the ignition switch to a lock smith ( not one in a shopping centre ) & they will be able to remove the barrel & make new keys or even change the barrel to suit another key of the same type. I had all the locks on my MGBGT changed to be lock alike so I had the one key to fit the ignition , doors , hatch & glovebox, it wasn't that expensive. There is a number stamped into the face of barrel in the old days you could just quote that number & buy a new key or tell the lock smith the number & he would cut it for you. Not sure if they can still do that though.

I might have one in the container to suit your '57. Hopefully, I'll get a chance soon to brave the heat and smoke and have a look for you. If I haven't got a '57 dated one, I should have something close. You will have to pull it apart and clean out the dried up zinc ? based grease. Make sure you take note of the positioning and timing of the gear set!
Good luck with your project! 5380
If the number is stamped on the barrel, any qualified locksmith should be able to cut a key. I have done this (not for a Landrover) within the last few years.
