Has anyone tapped water lines into a thermostat housing in order to feed a heater in a 2.0 engine? Having relocated to alpine region, I知 hoping to warm up the cab a little.

Looks like yours has been fitted with the outlet already. Alas, mine remains untouched. I have sourced another thermostat housing to tap into so I can change back if necessary.

Hmm, interesting. Mine did have an OE Smiths heater when I got it.
But then it was bought new in the UK and driven here.
At least you can see where to drill the hole, the return to radiator connection looks a bit harder.

The aluminum housings had the plugs but the cast iron /steel ones didn't. The problem with the aluminum ones they usually have the back of them were they mate with the head coroded & need welding & machining flat. If you are thinking of installing this type of heater they don't give off much heat or at least mine doesn't , it is ok to worm up worm hands when cold , but then the engine never gets very hot anyway You can put your hand on the top tank of the radiator & leave it there even after 3hr running the water pump off the PTO in the middle of summer..

Interesting, the one I found looks like Aluminium and doesn稚 look like it has fittings.

I belive the early 1.6 IOE motors had two brass fittings but looks like they were deleted when the 2lt came in.
If your stuck I have an early housing here with the two out let's, housing is in good cond that I would be willing to sell.

I taped a cast housing but used the radiator outlet with the t branch as in photos . So you can tap them easily enough, not shure if you壇 get two into a housing though, not at home to look
( also stuck a temp sensor into it as in first pic]
