But the jag - well it is not a Jag but a SS was a project - but it did look pretty good and not much of a project to me - being an SS rather than a Jaguar makes it even more valuable - maybe as it is a 2 1/2litre rather the more sought after later 3 1/2litre.

However I like to see old landies value going up.

But that is probably one of the best and most original around.

The one in my sig is 100% original, but not in that condition, although we do have full log books, original invoices, spec sheets with prices, etc.
Its registered, goes fine, probably only needs a good paint and a bit of panel work, and new door rubbers.

    One day that will happen

I noticed it has a Jaguar on the radiator. 'Tis still lovely.

Yes but Jaguar was not formed until 1945 - prior to that it was the Swallow Sidecar Company (SS Cars) and because of the Nazi link to the term SS the name was changed. I am not sure but from the 30s I think the saloons were given the model name Jaguar (while the company was SS). The radiator badge certainly was SS but some models also carried the Jaguar name and the leaping Jaguar mascot.

Irrespective, any "Jaguar" related car with a SS linage (and badge) is more sought after than just the Jaguar version. The model in the pic above would have also been sold after 1945 as a straight Jaguar Saloon.

I understand the SS story. I used to be a Jag fan (still like 'em) and owned a Mark VII at one time. I liked that car. I have a collection of diecast models of Jags (which, along with my LR models, I should sell). I even still have Lord Montagu of Beaulieu's book on the history of Jaguar. I must have had that book for over 50 years - I bought it while I was still a trainee technician at tech college.

This book - I must check the edition. It might be worth something.
