A very sad sight indeed.
It's pics like this we need a 'don't like' option to press.
Well that's it for the S1.
We never imagined it would end like this.
We're all a bit gutted.

Bought in 1955 In the UK by persons unknown.
Sold to next owner in approx. 1970. Prepared for transport to Australia as a honeymoon trip.
Driven overland through France, Italy, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan to India, then deck cargo Mumbai to Fremantle, then driven clockwise around Australia. Trip ended in South Melbourne.
The marriage also ended here.( Well, it must have been a rough trip)
Involved in a collision with a VW Beetle which bent the front LH chassis rail.
Beetle did not survive.
Bought by me in 1974 for $350 to enable house build on a steep block.
Front chassis rail rebuilt.
Carried or dragged every piece of timber and 5000 bricks up that driveway.
House finished and S1 completely stripped and rebuilt, A few oil seals, bearings, piston rings and crank bearing shells fitted.
Pistons, rods, crank, and flywheel balanced.
Became daily transport for the next 15 years.
Brought Daughter home from hospital as a newborn. Taught her to drive 14 years later.
Also became a test bed for a lot of interesting modifications:
Fully floating rear axle from a 1958 station wagon was found and fitted, with spacers to allow S2 axles to be used.
Extra foot pedal to disengage high range 4wd without stopping. Very useful.
4 branch inlet manifold made and fitted, with a Weber 2 barrel carburettor from a Fiat.
4-2-1 exhaust manifold made to match. Interesting performance boost with the crossflow engine design.
A lot of fun was had surprising Holdens at traffic lights.
Exhaust manifold heater designed and fitted. Very nice for alpine trips.
Idea stolen from a VW beetle.
Used for 2 outback camping trips and many Victorian Alps camping trips. Many with the LROC.
On one of those with girlfriend an 2 kids and camping gear for a week in the Wonnangatta ( Vic alpine country), boiled the gearbox oil climbing from Dargo up to the high plains. Refused to shift out of 2nd gear. Let it cool until the oil stopped bubbling and continued on. No gearbox problems after.
Speedo now at 350k MILES.
Towed a 1.5T trailer from Belgrave to Black Mountain several times when I retired and moved to East Gippsland.
Never once stranded me beside the road or failed to run.
Died on 30 December 2019 in a Bushfire. Very sad an old friend gone.
Had to write this, thanks for reading.
