Are new Head bolts available in Australia?

    Gentlemen,
I am really keen to support local business, so when I decided to replace the head bolts in my 2 litre spread bore, I looked around to see what I could buy. SeriesOne Shop has some used ones, but I would rather use nice new ones. However I cannot find anyone nationally who can supply them.
The threads on mine are somewhat beaten up, and a set of BSF taps and dies to restore them, seems to cost more than a new set out of the UK.
Anyone know who might be able to supply them from Australia?

    regards and thanks
    Jeff

Try Bruce Gardner who trades as B.S.F. Bolts 0408 056 255. He is in Melbourne. Otherwise you will need to find to find a fastener dealer with very old stock. High tensile BSF bolts, equivalent SAE 5 or 8 are nearly non existent. You could get some bolts of the necessary diameter with long unthreaded shanks and cut threads on them in the unthreaded section. Unbrako used to list a few BSW sizes but no BSF. I can still supply some taps and dies in BSF.

Edit - Never buy boxed sets of taps and dies. You will never use many of them. Only buy what you need. Intermediate lead taps suit most jobs. If you need a bottoming lead then grind a couple of threads off the cutting edge.
