The closest match I was able to find for my 80" engine is GM Blue available from auto shops in Engine Enamel rattle cans.

Hiyas All
Engine paint colour?
I am given to understand that 2ltr engines in Oz were/are a bilious turquoise, duck egg blue?????????????
However, a visit to:
Land Rover Paint - Engine Archives - Paintman
reveals that the colour of my engine should perhaps be S1 Grey or the S1 1600 Blue.
The blue looks to match the dark bluey grey remains that I found under all the crap (not a lot, and in the valleys of the casting grain).
Mine being a 52 80" it is possible that it has a 2lt painted with the remains of the 1600 paint. I can't imagine Rover in 1952 throwing out "good" engine paint just because the engine size was changed. Comment?
'straaayyin equivalents? Are there any? does anyone have the paint numbers, or provide paint. Would think being flammable etc. getting paint from UK would be problematic, or long way round in a container. (even here getting paint through the mail, or consigned?)
Cheers
Rick F

what colour should the spark plugs be painted?
Is paint something that they will post overseas ??
Lots of discussions on paint on the forum. I don't think it needs to be heat resistant for an engine so a paint shop could mix something to order, they just need a sample.
Humbrol (model paint) duck egg blue has been mentioned as 'about right' so could be used to get matched. Also dark grey crops up.

Two colours listed on the Series I Club shop (and "there may be postage restrictions outside the UK"......)
Early 2 litre same as 80", blue/grey. Mix 2 parts Humbrol No 96 to one part Humbrol No 149 (courtesy of James Taylor's book on the Series I)
Later 2 litre, grey.

I was able to order two tins, one in each colour.
As base, I used an engine primer (spray can, 2 passes) followed by the enamel, thinned down with spray gun (again, 2 thin passes). m
And another 107 .... old project picked up again.
