    2ltr Main bearings

    Sent this to Alex at series one shop but find that he doesn't seem to answer questions and this is particularly important regarding S1 shop Main Bearings, and if he happens to be away ????????????? Also begs the question of "what about a big order?" that I am in the process of organising ??

    I have never been able to contact him by phone or email so I have never bought anything off him. He did get back to me once about 20years ago , I asked for price for freight & he sent me the price for the part which I already knew. I ended up buying from UK which was quicker than getting an answer from him.

    Seems like a silly way to run a business if you are not prepared to respond to potential customers - just looked at the site - why have various means of contact on the website if the business is not prepared to respond to contact.

    But if you're running a business and you don't bother to reply then you lose the sale, future potential sales and, through 'word of mouth', many more potential sales.

    I've had people refuse to send photos of vehicles they want to sell, they want me to drive halfway across the Country to look at a vehicle which in their view is in 'OK' condition. I've stopped wasting my time, no photo then they are potentially hiding something and probably wasting my time......
    Maybe I've missed out but how hard is it to send a photo ?
    If I get a photo and I'm not interested I'll get back to them and explain why.

    I haven't checked the LR specifications but from the figures quoted it sounds like your crank had already been ground .005" undersize.
    What markings were on the back of the old shell bearings ?

    If I'm correct that would make the regrind size 1.990" for 0.015" undersize shell bearings.

    I was wanting to buy a Rover P6 a couple of years back , there was one listed at Inverell , NSW , asked him to send me some better photo's as it was hard to tell what the paint was like , the ones he sent were not much better. The paint did not look rite. I rang him & he assured me there was nothing wrong with the paint, he was asking top dollar + for this vehicle. I said I need to know as I do not waist to drive from Brisbane towing a car trailer to find the paint is not as described . He assured me everything on the car was good. I headed to Inverell with a bank cheque for his asking price, on arrival as he opened the garage he said you will probably need to repaint it. There were not two panels that were the same shade , the paint was rubbed through on the corners & badly fitting panels , the trim was glued in with silicon which he had not cleaned the excess off , there were holes in the roof lining patched with looked like contact cement, & I could tell it was not RWC by the way it drove. So a whole day waisted , $100 in fuel & to rub salt into it , it cost me $30 to cancel the bank cheque.
    This car I had seen for sale a few months earlier for sale at the Gold Coast & it had had the L/H front door & guard removed for some reason & there was a rust hole in the roof above the C pillar. This guy had bought it thrown it back together & wacked a whopping profit on it. Never did get a Rover , bought a BMW local.
