Meter plug for banjo bolt p/n 212023

    Me again:

Wee tiny plug (restrictor) up inside the banjo bolt to/at the head. Am pretty sure it wasn't there when disassembled. because everything that came off went into same box immediately. However, being so small and not aware that it would be there?????????

Went looking for it and couldn't find in banjo bolt or big box. Probably been gone for years and years, Dunno!

Is it essential? Am aware turbos have restricted oil flows in, too much not good. No restrictor would supply excessive??? oil to inlet rocker shaft/valve guides perhaps, and/or drainage unable to cope????

    Advice required

    Cheers

They are a press in fit so would not have fallen out . I think that it needs to be there to restrict the amount of oil flow to the overhead rockers , if there is too much oil in the top end it will go down the valve guides, it could also help with the oil pressure & flow to the bottom end. . If you buy a new banjo bolt it dose not come with the restrictor . I sent an old bolt I had to a guy a couple of weeks ago so he could get the restrictor out for the new bolt he had bought for his engine that was missing the oil feed pipe & banjo bolts

Sorry I can't as I gave the spare one away I had & is too hard to get out at back of head in vehicle , I am sure someone will have a motor out that could measure it for you.

Is it a screw fit or press fit? If threaded, a small fastener of that era is likely to be BA.

From the look of the photo in Cradock's parts list there is no thread on out side & the guy I sent the spare one I had said the new banjo bolt he bought never had a thread on the in side. So I would say a press fit.

S1 2ltr Banjo oil restrictor orifice

Moderator, this needs to be filed somewhere for "easy" reference.

Orifice diameter is 1/16 inch, restrictor plug dia is inside dia of banjo bolt (push fit) and about 1/4" long

    Cheers
