Engine / Transmission Mounts
A happy New Year to all.
My 1953 80" came with engine/transmission mounts made up of several rubber units mounted on a metal tube.
These are costly, at around $500 for the two pairs, once postage and bank fees are added.

However a search on the Web for Series 1 Mounts shows a very different and far more economical mount. But are these suitable?

Can anyone tell me if these can be used as an alternative o a Series 1?
Many thanks,
Jeff

can be done
have a look at my thread - i did manage to use standard mounts as found on newer defender and series vehicles. had to chop the sides of one of the mounts for the engine as mine has the holden 186, the other side (d/side) was fine as is. gearbox the mount did push the box a bit too high touching the bell housing to the firewall but can't remember what i did - will need to have a look to confirm arrangement in place.

I don't believe they can be used unless you change the bracket bolted to the block also cut the old chassis brackets off & weld on later type brackets . The threads I think will be a different size also not BSF. As for the gearbox I think it will be the same requiring chassis X member & gearbox bracket modifications. Someone may have done it But I don't think it is possible.
