    Bearmach Engine and Gearbox Mounts

Bearmach are offering Engine and Gearbox Mounts that they claim is suitable for all series petrol models.

    https://bearmach.com/engine-mounting...unting-bfm-051

I previously asked our forum if these were indeed suitable for our Series 1, and received mixed views, some saying No, some saying Yes, but with modification.

As Bearmach seem to be one of the more reliable suppliers, it seems odd that they are offering a mount that is incorrect for a stated model.

As the cost savings for a full set would be substantial, I'm keen to hear from anyone who has used these successfully and from anyone who has found them less than ideal.

    Many thanks
    Jeff

These are suitable for the late S1's but not early S1's So will depend on which type your vehicle has . To fit these in an early you would have to modify the chassis mount bracket & buy brackets to bolt to the engine.
mount bracket early.jpgengine mount 12.jpgearly mounts.jpg These 1st three show Early type mount bracket on the engine , the chassis mount brackets & the type of mount the motor & gear box should have.mount bracket late.jpgengine mounts 10.jpg Theas two show late type engine bracket & chassis mounts bracket & mount. The early mounts bolt to the top of an extension of the chassis on booth sides , the late type bolt on an angle to a bracket that is welded to the inside of the chassis. As you can see the brackets are different as well as the mounts. I am not sure when they changed , the early were on 1595 cc engine & I think early 2L & think they changed on the 2L spread bore , some one correct me if I am wrong.

That mount is used for the engine on a later Series I and engine/gearbox Series II onwards.

I think the mount in the link below is the one you need.
Engine Mount Pair Series One 80"
They are showing out of stock but I'm sure someone in the UK will stock them. I managed to get the rubbers locally some years back for the gearbox mounts on my '56.

Best to get the correct mount rather than one that's 'cheaper'.

Many thanks for the assistance Gentle. This is another legacy item that I struggle with. My S1 is an 80" from 1953 and came with a 2 litre siamese , however around 1957, it appear that Land Rover replaced the block with a later Spread bore 2 litre, and reused as much as possible from the the original engine, and provided new bits where they could not.
As a result, Early and Late models can be a confusing term for me.

However, I definitely have the engine mounts that Grommit showed in his link, with the spacer tube, but washers and multiple metal rimmed rubber units. I appear to have the same setup for the transmission mounts.

Dingo Croft don't have either in stock and at 90 and 93 quid a pair, plus ****ty banks fees, GST and exchange rates, it not a cheap exercise.

Biting the bullett time again I guess.
    Thanks for the help.
    regards
    Jeff

There is nothing special about these engine mounts. They are a standard engineering item available from the Australian company Mackay.
