88" was late Series I, '57/'58 (someone will confirm).
The chassis number is on a plate on the bulkhead and also stamped on the chassis, usually on one of the rear spring hangers or sometimes on one of the front dumb irons depending who assembled it.

Insert chassis number and it should give you an idea of the year it was made.
Brake shoes can be re-lined, most older brake specialists can arrange this. I can't remember if Series I track rod ends were a different thread to Series II, maybe the very early ones were.
There are a few specialists in the UK, shipping adds to the cost but at least they can supply the parts.
