    Rubber weaver seal under windscreen

    Gentlemen,
I have the rubber weather seal for under the windscreen but have two questions.
Firstly, there are a number of small but deliberately drilled holes in the top surface of the bulkhead onto which the seal sits. They do not appear to be for rivets, so I assume they serve so other purpose. To me they appear to be able to funnel rain water to the inside of the bulkhead, which would seem to be high undesirable.

So, what are these holes for and should the seal be glued in place or secured in some other way?
    Workshop manual is unhelpful.

    regards
    jeff

Jeff, can't be certain, but possibly these holes are the location of spot welds between front and rear components of the bulkhead. They've been drilled out to enable dismantling and treating internal rust. In my own case the bulkhead was badly rusted under the "weaver seal" so much so that the gap opened and closed with the turning of the steering wheel. So I had a piece of sheet steel folded up to go the full width under the windscreen and down behind the trailing edge of the bonnet. Pop rivetted in place it really stiffened up the bulkhead. Back to your vehicle yes I'd use silicone sealant to keep water out of the double panel.
    Cheers, RobS

bulkhead.jpgIMAG0805_LIbulkhead1.jpg On a 80" The wind screen to bulkhead seal fits on the flange arrowed & there should not be any holes in the top of the bulkhead , I did not glue mine on because the original was not glued.
