    Year

From the pics it is not 1954, I would say it is a 109" thus 1956 to 1958.

    Hi there Digger

I would have driven past that vehciles 100 times and have never really paid any attention to it.

When I get back to work I will go for a short drive to your old stomping grounds and get the serial numbers - I can recal a story it was used by the mines inspector many years ago.....

Well all the best - might see you on the 16th for the Fire Station Opening

firstly, dennis thanks for the year guidance, I didnt measure the wheelbase
    (whoops!)

    wayne,
correct --apparently ex govt and best bet is mines warden.
in rear wheel arches where tool boxes normally sit in tray are two plastic/?fibreglass tanks, I assume for water. It has a left hand tank also fitted for distance and a "kickarse" bullbar!, (perfect for the sandhill bashing trips to get from one Opal field to another via sandhills sandhills sandhills and then more sandhills.

I have been told recently it may have been laid up in the 70's!!!

either way...its a cracker and its in a dry climate, so should be fairly right under also, I know I lived there for 4 1/2 years and it was so dry even the kids wouldnt grow!!!

Hopefully I will see you at CFS/SES opening,
apparently they want me to MC the event......something about able to talk underwater and a mouth full of marbles??? I didnt quite catch it....

have a good one , digger

It looked drivable and had 45 on the windshield,,

I think it was 4500 but , like I said I only got a quick glimpse,,,

nearly broke my neck looking at the second one--

spotted - s1 and a "pile of parts"

    literally...

    s1 - no motor ....jpg
the s1 (motor allegedly in shed being repaired when owner left to drive the landys on cloud 9!!)

    s1 - a pile of parts.jpg
literally a pile of parts, doors, tubs, seatboxes, roofs, bonnetts etc...

    s1 - the landrover hill.jpg
Im told that there are between 4 and 6 s1 land rovers in this section of hill that the previous owner BULLDOZED in as he was happy with the one he had .... Im assuming they were not running....maybe this is where parts came from (before he dozed them)...there are a further 3 s1 chassis on top of hill , 2 of which i believe are visable....

been told this story (with varying numbers) by 3 or 4 people now...

    just for info.

    Hi there Digger

I had a look at this gear at Andamooka about 2 years ago - the shed behind the 54 is packed full of gear (to the roof) - and another heap of panels/roofs etc....

As the gear belonged to here father (whom passed away many years ago) she lives in Adelaide and now wants a small fortune for here so called treasures.

Please dont take me wrong its worth good money but with its location and the current price of fuel - Its borderline and I have my doughts............

    All the best

    Two spotted....

Spotted two in SA on a recent trip (sorry no photos) all too fast:

    1. A white Series II in a vacant lot adjacent to the Stratco offices in Gepps Cross, Adelaide.
    2. A nice looking green Series I shorty in a paddock on the east side of the railway line (saw it from the Ghan) in Snowtown SA.
