    Land Rover PTO serial No's

    Hi there

    A question for the forum:

Land Rover PTO equipment have stamped serial numbers. I am just curious is there a dated data base available for the PTO equipment sold for Land Rovers.

    Thanks in advance

PS I hope this makes sense

All the PTO I have seen have 1948 LR numbers 86**** I believe that I saw one with 867*** and another with 869*** but as there were only 3,000 1948's and in fact only 7920 1948's and 1949's (The 1949 also commencing with 866**** for the chassis and 863+*** for engine, gearbox, axles etc).

Given only a relatively small proportion had rear PTO's many of the 86**** units may have actually been fitted in the S2 era.

The only way we can sort out the date is if we find original vehicles with their original PTO. And who can say what has happened in the ensuing 50+ years.

    Is that what you want.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
