Oops....
Didn't want to upset anyone.Anyway, we should be allowed to discuss if a claim is valid or not. If someone says this is original we should be able to be sceptical and give our opinions. Especially if this is with respect to a sale where a potential buyer may, or may not, be duped.
I certainly do not have the credentials to call myself an expert. But I do have some knowledge and my opinion. And I may be wrong, may not...
I checked on the eBay listing I referred to (had a look at the actual items in person) and indeed those are plastic lenses. In my eager to confirm what were clearly not original lenses I confirmed the other poster saying that yes originals had glass. Which I have to correct now.... no, not.... as someone else said, never seen them in glass. And unfortunately I haven't seen that many.
So, I stand corrected and apologize.
Still.....
In this case the seller, who is probably a great person, did adjust the listing. And appearantly due to this forum... which is great to see. It shows the sellers honesty and shows that this forum has a positive influence.
Everyone should be allowed to question.... in any forum about anything. It is then up to answers and responses to get many replies which clarify and give an outcome which reflects the truth as close as possible. Forum: "public meeting or assembly for open discussion". The word being Open... Open to all opinions and thoughts, of course there is still a need for respectful language and expression of opinions.
in short....
Sorry, I was (partially) wrong!
(p.s. Pork Pie is the non-scientific name used for the shape. There are many products out there called a pork pie. From hats, different types of lights, drums, etc. It comes from the shape of a pork pie (which aparently you can actually eat), which I have to admit to never have seen one in real life..... have a look here: [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pork_pie[/ame])

- What happened to the Tenterfield gig????
. But let me give Hebe a break - It was me that actually first asked the question regarding the item as being a "pork pie". I was actually asking a genuine question. This was more a case of a S1 "know nothing" (me) stuffing up!
