Found this on Ebay UK. Thought it might be of interest even just to see the pictures. I have no connection with the seller or the vehicle.
Unique Land Rover Series IIa & Scottorn trailer TAC-T Fire Engine 6x6 ex-RAF
1967 TACT (Truck, Aircraft Crash, Tactical) 3500 miles
Classified ad price:
£19,500.00
This is the only complete and fully restored example of the 15 TAC-Ts built for the RAF from 1967 to 1972 designed to serve with Harrier Squadrons on dispersal (i.e. when flying from woodland hides). The Land Rover was built in 1967 and is equipped with a demountable rear fire fighting ‘pallet’ (built by Pyrene) and a powered axle trailer (Scottorn Bushmaster Mk1) to achieve both six-wheel-drive and air-portability by Westland Wessex. Some examples were finished in NATO green others in Signal Red. The TAC-T was the only application of a power axle trailer attached to a Land Rover in front line service. 27AG46 served initially at RAF Luqa in Malta and is finished in the Red and White colour scheme from this period (bare metal re-spray of dismantled vehicle). It was later transferred to RAF Cosford.
Period video footage can be seen of a TAC-T being loaded into a RAF Hercules here (@ 7:47 mins):
The Land Rover and trailer are both fully restored and will be sold complete with all period equipment (except the ladder shown in some photographs). The fire pump (Coventry Climax mounted on the rear) is fully operational as is the PTO system driving the axle of the Scottorn Bushmaster 200 Gallon water trailer. 2, 4 or 6 wheel drive can be selected. The whole vehicle is rust free, it has 7 new bar grip tyres, it retains is very rare one-piece doors and the vehicle has a mileage of just over 3,500 since 1967! It has always been dry stored and I was the first to register the vehicle after RAF service (Historic Vehicle on modern V5). I have some original factory photographs of the type as well a copy of the vehicles hand book. Vehicle is taxed (historic so zero fees) and has a current MoT (April 2013). The vehicle is aproximatly 30 feet long and really needs to be stored undercover as all the pumping gear is open to the elements, please bare this in mind. Trailer can be unhitched in about 1 min though so a tall double garage would work.
This Land Rover has been featured in several magazines, won best leaf sprung Land Rover at Dunsfold 2011 and won Land Rover Owners editor’s choice at the Gaydon Land Rover Heritage show also in 2011. It is really one for the serious collector who recognises the rarity both of the type and of any Land Rover with a powered axle trailer. I'm only selling as other projects are in the offing!
