Thread: Work on the 'ol ute tomorrow

Well I have had to stay home from work as the little bloke is sick. So I thought I should post some photos of the ol ute and the latest work on her:

I have extended the batt base (5 cm) and built a top bracket for the 17 Plate Battery. The air cleaner fitment has gone the journey.

And yes - the alternator needed replacement on this old girl as well (thats the second in the week on my Landy's. Hopefully no more for a while).

Got a few wires to sort out still. (hoping just the indicator and horn etc).

Otherwise I am very happy with the interior.

I now have the PTO cover fitted and undercoated (could paint this today)??

Still need to chase up the canopy bows. And I could also find someone to recover the seats - just need to keep the little fella asleep and I can achieve so much !

    looking good mate!

Electrickery scares the bajesus out of me too, which is bad considering the wiring in my beast looks like a cave creature...

Bad luck with two alternators going in one week though! Freaky!

Thanks all - it is coming along very nicely. Don't worry, the dirt will come one I have it fully mobile. The old man is moving to this mart of the world and he may end up with it on his place so I can use it on weekends; even if it is just for collecting the firewood.

Mate , With them sexy tyres you should be able to churn some dirt . Might have to twist your arm soon to see if you want to put ol mate out in the Otways and get covered in mud . Goblin is slowly getting there .

You never know Mick, I could be in for it. Olmate needs to do something other than drive me to/from work each day.

I am searching for some prices on the remaining tyres so the back matches the front of the ol ute. Could be up for it with this one too.

Cheers Easo - hope all things go great over seas fella.

The olute had its floor finished off this weekend (some nice new bolts etc) and I did a little bit of wiring around the dahsboard as I am not too adventurous here

I reckon I have located a bloke not to far from home who will come in handy to recover my seats and should find out more this week. Did find a decent warning sign for the ute though......

    Next Question:

I have a steering wheel for olute that is in need of some repairs. It has cracking etc that needs to be filled. Does anyone have a recommended putty (or the like) that is worth giving a go

    Putty recommendation

    Hi Troy,

The best that I have used is made by POR15 and is distributed in Australia by PPC (Permanent Painted Coatings).

Web site is Permanent Painted Coatings Home and the product that you are after is called epoxy putty, the data sheet can be found on this part of the website. PPC - Epoxy Putty

Reasonably expensive, however there has been no product that I have used from POR15 that has not worked.
