Well fellas, the work on the olute will have to take a back seat for a bit
the other one (yep not happy) - olmate - has started to smoke a bit behind the dash when started
The amp guage flickers about and the "occassionally" points north and remains where it produces smoke and a smell that demands attention
Just what a bloke needs. Especially when he is off to melbourne this weekend and cant get stuck into it
What is of real concern is I am absolutely useless when it come sto electrickery and scared of a mere 9volts
Yep - I can hear you all laughing now and even some of you egging me on. But seriously it will be gentle as I go.

Very true indeed.
The wiring in olmate is about the only thing that has been left alone and I dont plan on going near it. I know exaclty what will happen should I do that

Electrickery is nothing to be scared of, what you do is grab all that Lucas junk including the wiring and throw it at a cat, start from scratch and go all new, good heavy guage wire, lots of fuses and fusible link and an alternator, happy times! I am rewiring the Streak from scratch its easy really, they are so basic, amps guages are notorious for this in old cars, can be a regualtor problem, a wire breaking down or rubbed through some where, faulty gauge, an amps guage is a simple thing most likely your frying a wire back through the firewall, I have wired 3 old vehicles from scratch, if it scares ya just pay someone to do it, I am having dramas with my old girl Troy, getting really snakey with the whole thing, nearly had her dragged away today.

GD, you make it sound so easy. I dont mind all that mechanical stuff but electrickery - fella; I dont like it.
Olmate is booked in with the auto elecs tomorrow and I shall see what they say. It would be best to rewire the whole thing but I shall wait until the verdict is given.
Whats going on with your ol car GD? Are you skinning knuckles?
