And some engine bay shots. Her front panel (headlights) is aluminum and therefore in perfect nick. I believe its off a later model. Has the wrong grill as well.
Diana couldnt find any markings or plates from the distributor, nothing from Grenville.
Some bright spark has drilled holes all along both front wheel guards probably to put flares on it at some point.

Sounds like some work for the TIG welder on the mudguards. I wonder if someone had 15" rims on it at some time????
As you knew the grill and mesh are the wrong one for the 1949/50.
Fred Lomas at Fabristeel Engineering (NSW) make replica bumpers if you want one. The Numpties have one for Leon. The 1949 are a little cheaper as they don't have the boxing or the brackets.
I like the air-conditioning for the passenger! :D Will you supply them goggles?

Got her tucked away now after lots of swearing, sweating and pushing. She wasnt as keen to start this morning. Wanted to but just wouldnt get there. A fully charged battery was only getting about half a dozen goes before she wouldnt turn anymore :confused::confused: i also noticed a loud ticking when the key was turned (fuel pump ???) whatever is going on though shes in the garage now and i can start prioritising work.
Elsa is still going to get the most attention though because she is 80% of the way there.
Have to find a name for the new little one but that is the wifes resposibility this one is hers to name.
I think the first work with it will be wheels off and brakes and bearings done. After that who knows. I guess i'll just follow my nose.
Oh BTW got to do something i've always wanted to do. Fix a broken exhaust with two coke cans and some wire :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

Quick question
I was under the impression that the new 80 inch would have the 7 inch lights with the holes through the grill. From some reading today it may be that it originally had the 5 inch tractor lights behind the grill. It is car number 06101688 and has the wide transom plus the remains of the sprung seat mounts and the ring pull transfer case. Can you let me know what parts i should be looking for, Holes through grill or lights behind grill.

the engine should be R866....
the engine no. you mention is a 50
if it is a 49 there was only about 3000 of them
ring pulls only a/c for 1/2 of that number

Yep i've taken it over from another forum member. It is car number 06101688 and it currently has a 2 litre engine from a 55 model fitted. It is engine number 57101979. I am looking for the correct grill and light arrangement at the moment and for the sidelights on the bulkhead. If you have any sources for these can you let me know.
She will be restored to a good condition and will actually be used :). I dont intend her to be a garaged show pony but she will be limited to Sunday afternoon style drives / jaunts. :p
I thought Ring pull was dropped in early 49 before wide front springs and late head lights.:confused: I have a 49 and 50 here and no Ring pull. The 48 we had here did though but is gone:(
