How she looks with her bits off. Notice the compulsory crack in the bulkhead where the steering box fits. Suprisingly good condition for the chassis with just a bit of surface rust. Lots of oxidisation on engine though. Thinking chassis will be hot dipped when i get that far. So will bulkhead!.
good work mick.getting it galvanised?
Hey, they charge items to be galvanized by weight, yes weight! I thought years ago that they somehow used displacement , (like a ship) to calculate the cost, but they use weight? :(
I dont know how much a landie chassis weighs but its a lot. Start saving right now. Use worn out second hand parts only. because that's:bangin: all you will have money for .......
just a thought: it would cost a lot to galvanize the Queen Mary, QE2 and the Titanic ( titanic cost more because of extra rust removal needed) :tease:
86" chassis weighs about 120 kilos give or take the amount of rust:wasntme:

FWIW I had a similar situation recently with rusted on bolts. I ended up buying (another) can of the Loctite "freeze&Release" ... As the bolts were only 5/16" and very corroded was worried they might shear...but the Loctite stuff lived up to its claims...
fwiw?
