Lost the farnarkling keys!

they will be in one of a few places.

the fridge/freezer
between the seat cushions
behind the big heavy desk you cant see behind, reach behind or shift for fear of the everest of junk falling off.

in the washer/drier with all the other missing socks.

Well I officially give up. Short of xraying the dog I have no idea where they are.:(

I'll talk to a locksmith on Monday.

Any qualified locksmith should be able to duplicate them from the code, but you may have to either wait until they get blanks in or shop around to find one with them in stock. They are not exclusive to Landrover, but similar locks were used in many British cars up to the introduction of steering locks, but there are not many of these still about, so demand would be small.

maybe these are just me... what strides were you wearing when you last had em?

maybe those whistle things arent that bad after all?
or the old servo toilet key trick, attach it to a besser brick!!

Or my P38A. A dealer changed the lockset and didn't update the LR database with the lockset code. If I lose the key, it's about $1300 in parts plus labour to fix it - a new lockset (3 locks, 2 fobs, 4 door handles, RF receiver, and a reprogram of the BECM (if they can do it in Australia).

It would be cheaper to write the car off and sell it for parts.

Have you dug under the pile of letters Yup and assorted crap on the kitchen table/bench top yup that everyone seems to have int heir house...the place everything gets dropped on entering the house ( for us its the dining table...hence we never sit at it to eat :D)Yes side table of junk has been cleaned up!

On the bright side I have :

Found my angle grinder
Found my favourite screwdriver bit for my electric drill
Found lots of coins - will go towards the locksmith :p
Numerous pens
My daughter's hair brush
The graphite powder
My old watch
3 padlocks
Cleaned up under the couch and the bed
Cleaned up the "3rd drawer"
Cleaned up the study

Paul, it may be too long ago but can you recall everything that you did on the day you last saw them? Somewhere in your travels they have been deposited in an unlikely place, as you have searched all of the likely places. I find thinking about everything I did that day or week, often helps me to find things.

Mind you, I once lost my P6 keys for about 2 years and then found them in a box of tek screws in the shed, and last week I found the missing rocker arm for my S1 in a box of new bolts - it made perfect sense how they got there but I found them by accident :(

Do you have small children? When I was 2, I dropped the car keys down the hollow leg of a bed - goodness knows how Mum solved that one!

A friend demonstrated how easy it is to hot wire a series 1 ... if the car is wired per the original circuit in the manual.. the two little plugs on the dash are always 'ALIVE '..irrespective of the ignition switch. If keys are lost, you run a short jumper wire from the dash plug to the wiper motor .. this wire provides a path to the ignition circuit because the wiper is wired to the ON side of the IG switch ... drive away !

ho har lost his house etc keys for 6 months :( got spare ones cut and guess where I found them on our last trip.................in a tissue box in the cubby in the defender:eek:.just a thought look there
