Many thanks for the pictures - I noticed the air vents on the sides of the doors (these were used on the later series vehicles - from memory)
Ae you going to keep the holden engine - or convert it back to Land rover.......either way its a tidy looking rig.
It also must have been a common after market conversion of the time - my Series One Fire Engine also has a remote brake booster fitted in the same place.

I think once I have finished my Holden ute rebuild I will have to go to work on my Series 1.
those vents on the doors bring more air into the cab its not a bad idea, as these series landys dont have aircon.
i decided to keep the 186 because the previous owner didnt keep the origional motor.
what did the 86" have 2.0 litre motors? For my next project i will source an origional engine for my 56 model swb. its nice to leave some landys with the holdens in them as this was common in the 70's i thought it would make a nice example at car & 4x4 shows.
i moved the brake booster behind the gearbox under the passenger middle seat near the pto cover plate, makes the engine bay a bit tidier and easier to bleed the brakes as its at the same level as the master cylinder.
i have a pdf, of the johnsons holden conversion booklet. how can i upload a file like a pdf? its worth looking at. maybe both our landys were converted by the same company back in the day?

Your right, there was a lot of holden powered land rovers. (Probably still is!) You can always convert it later if you feel that way inclined.
