Magnificent progress Chris!
G'day,
Over the Easter weekend i managed to put in some good hours on my 55 Series 1. I have mostly completed the Wiring Loom. Once all the Ancillaries were connected i hooked up the battery to test everything, only problem were the indicators. It had a faulty indicator stalk from a County the plastic crappy ones so i had taken the one from my 68GS with a new flasher can too. The good old cast zinc one works just a treat. Pitty they dont make things like they used to in the old day. So im pretty happy with the outcome. ill post some pics soon.
cheers.
Chris.

oh also that Fan is not going to stay there.......:-)
Looking great :BigThumb:
I am interested to see that you managed to get the holden in with little/no modification to the chassis and body.
When I put a 161 in an 86 20 years ago, I had to cut out part of the front X member and move the lot a couple of inches forward and move the radiator panel forward as well.
Then having just installed the engine I hit a hidden ditch and put the engine through the radiator:mad:.
You vehicle is looking good - great work.
Garry
yeah tight fit alright, i have heard stories about the motor shifting foward (Holden Motors) and the mechanical fan fouling on the radiator. I will be removing the mechanical fan for the electric one in the picture. I will also put in what the series 2A's have, that rod from the gearbox to the bellhousing Xmember. its got rubber grommets at each end. Its to minimise movement of the eng & gbox all together.
What can I say - she is looking very good
Very good job mate ;)
I have a 186 in my 80" series I, it's really got some balls now hehe. I don't believe there are any modifications to the vehicle apart from some really shoddy vacuum brakes :S
Yours is looking really great mate, wish my resto was that good
G'day mate, such a great project and tremendous effort going into it. Certainly will be a credit to you when you are finished. The pics are fantastic keep'em'comming.
