Resurrecting an old thread, but I found this sticker on an 88" 2A wreck that I have. It is a suffix B and CalVIN tells me it is a 1963-66 era manufactured vehicle. Original colour is yellow too, so perhaps the original purchaser was DCA, or some other government dept.

    Cheers, Mick.

    Hello All,

A further resurrection of an old thread. I had a look around my latest acquisition a 2A short wheel base made in 1970 and it has a black background with silver writing metal plate pop riveted on to the firewall shelf just off to the left of the steering column.

There is a brass plate on the same shelf located close to the driver's door. It is too dark to read it or photograph both plates at the moment. I will try photographing them in day light and I will post them up.

It is good to have a plate that identifies where the vehicle was first sold from. I suppose the 1974 floods would have ruined any paper work that captured the information about who the first owner's were.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

In that period the Department of National Development, I believe, was buying Landrovers and assigning them to a variety of Commonwealth departments and agencies, including DCA, OTC, and BMR, but other less well known ones as well. And they were all yellow, having changed to yellow from rescue orange in about 1956. PMG (not a major Landrover user) got their own, in red.

Leyland Truck & Bus commenced operations as the Land & Range Rover distributor for Qld. & Northern Rivers on 1/7/73. A&T were supposed to stop selling as of the day before but may have had a very few vehicles in stock or as work in progress and delivered them after 30/6/73. T&B bought a swag of parts and components from A&T. Lots of optional items, brush guards, hardtops, station wagon doors, tyres & rims, fuel tanks and so on. Their Wholesale Sales Manager came to work for Leyland, didn't impress anyone, left to open his own dealership in a Qld. country town. Went broke quickly. The A&T delivery, warranty, and service record cards were handed over to T&B and started with their very first Land Rover. After the 1974 flood these were a congealed mass of cardboard pulp and went to the tip.

I own an Australian probably CKD 1949 built Series 1 which appears to be yellow painted over the original bronze green and i have been told it was a Government car.
