ok i pulled out some of the panels to strip the paint of ready to put on better new paint but i did not have any paint stripper and i was all excited and willing to get them ready so i started witha real fine sand paper it worked all right but i thought it was scratching it too much so i tried the sand blaster abit and it worked really well but i did not get much done before pack up time and back to work but i was wondering will sand blasting do any harm it is only a small one

    Soda Blasting

Hi , have you give thought to soda blasting rather than sand blasting. From the research I have done and the people I have talked to, it would be suitable for Landrover pannels. It is what I'm planning to do when I get to pannel stage. There is a bloke our here where I live with one. I have also posted a link to a video of a coke can being soda blasted. Soda Blasting a Coke Can - YouTube

There is lots of stuff on youtube, just do a search on soda blasting. I believe it is also enviromentally frendly as the blast media is just bicarb soda.

Hope that all helps, Cheers Jeff

Sand blasting is quite suitable for removing paint from aluminium, you just have to use the correct "grit" (softer than aluminium). Sodablasting is a variant that would seem to be more appropriate.

i used the grit i used on the chassis and it was very expensive good stuff so dad said but now it has been used over and over its not anywhere near as good and it is only a very small sandblaster so i thought it would still be ok
