Quite correct and thank you for correcting me Mike :)

Serves me right for typing in a hurry before work - what I meant was that it is unique in the Land Rover world (I think) as I believe the later Series 1's with the newer dashboard changed to a bigger speedo. ;)

Quite correct - and since similar (and at least "sort of" interchangeable) ones were fitted for thirty years, it is not a problem finding one, although it may be a problem finding exactly the right one - there were something like thirty different ones (km/miles, trip/no trip, different gearing for different tyre sizes and gearing, with/without warning lights, different speed ranges depending on engine type, screw on/clip on cable, and all the various combinations of these features)
