Intresting. I was wondering what it went for. I watched it go to the $1500's more than once on ebay (with no reserve so no idea while the sale didn't go though either time). Then it was listed for 2 grand for a while as well. I'm sure it'll be a fun little car and hopefully there's not too much work in getting it back on the road.
Does anyone no where you can buy a Facet electric petrol fuel pump from.
G'day LRO :)
I would try Supercrud at Strathpine or Repco Caboolture (talk to Kevin or Ross) and if this is a front (engine bay) pump you will need a puller pump not a pusher ;) I notice it still has the 4 cylinder motor so if needed the repair kit for the original pump is Goss 966KT, and kits are still available through British Off Road as I had to replace my pump diaphragm last year.
cheers
Hi
This fuel pump i think is for transfering fuel between tanks.
Hi
Whent to start the car and had a slight fire in the engine bay this arvo. the black cable from the alternater has melted badly in certain spots causing a lot of smoke. Are these cars positive earth or negative earth( do i have that right ) as the red cable goes to the body.
It is probably originally negative earth but if fitted with an alternator to replace the original generator, it is now certainly negative earth - and incorrect polarity could cause the fire, although this would have happened as soon as the battery was connected, as the alternator would appear as a dead short.
Identifying wires by colour when the harness has certainly been modified is not very useful. Usually, a melted wire means that it has shorted somewhere, and if it did this when you tried to start, it may be the wire to the alternator which is supplied with power when you switched on the ignition, and this is either shorted or the alternator has developed a fault. On the other hand, it could be the main battery feed to the alternator, which rubbed through the last bit of insulation when the engine vibrated. Bit hard to tell without looking which terminal on the alternator it is connected to (and since the alternator is aftermarket, I have no idea which alternator it is).
I suggest a look at the wiring by someone with auto electrical knowledge would be worthwhile.

Hi
When i first put the battery in the car it would not turn over and the red light on the dash would not come on. I changed the terminals around and it started fine, and has done for the last six times. I will replace the black wire and see what happens.
Facet fuel pumps a polarity sensitive.
