Thread: transfer problems

Gday all having problems with my 2a gearbox with transfer high gear stick all the way forward in 2WD puting the power on or off the high range gear stick jumps out and into neutral, and cant seem to work out why? and it only dose this in 2WD high not any other gear. i removed the slector spring and plunger no wear what so ever on the plunger the spring was still good but replaced anyway still no faulting. can anyone help?

If the detente spring is OK, make sure nothing is stopping the lever going all the way forward -i.e. rubber boot on lever wrong way round, stop-bolt (if fitted) screwed in too far, binding on floor/firewall, or lever retaining pin falling out. Too much endfloat in transfer box intermediate gear can also cause this problem I think.
