    Small Update

    Hi All,

Well - I removed the Alternator, primarily so that I could clean the engine. While I was at it - I might as well clean it up a bit, and the brackets for it..

    Brackets - Before:

Brackets (and also the Passenger Side Engine Bracket) - After:

And the cleaned Alternator - it's not perfect, but it is a lot better than it was:

I also removed the Hand Throttle. Before:

    Hand Throttle components - After:

I will paint the hand Alternator Brackets and the Hand Throttle components..
And continue working on cleaning the chassis and engine...
    It never ends

Oooh. A hand throttle. Were they an option? Or is my 69 2a petrol missing something cool?

Luvin' your work by the way, but it is making me feel completely inadequate

Hand throttles were optional, but not a real lot of use I have found. Alright for warming up and setting a fast idle when the carby is iced up after a long run

On my series one i used the hand throttle abit when i was on flat surfaces where for long time such as a road i would lower the hand throttle when going 4x4 i would raise it a little and yes to warm it up it is good. Wouldnt they use the hand throttle when running a pto?
About half of my land rovers have/had hand throttles.

Yeah the hand throttle is meant for use with a PTO, but so few people run anything bar a winch from their PTO that it is all bar redundant. It isn't particularly safe using it as cruise control!
